It’s believed that another common, the 5th in the Carp Lake, may now have broken the 50lb barrier. Once I’ve been able to compare the photos I’ll post confirmation. It was caught by Bob MacGregor, who in September landed his 4th fifty from the Carp Lake at 52-04.
Earlier the lake record went again when new member Dave Pendegrass banked Black Spot at 60-12 (photo to follow). It was Dave’s second only fish from the Carp Lake, and together they totalled 101lbs.
Meanwhile, the Main Lake has produced more carp this season with a good proportion over 40lbs, including of course another lake record at 57-10. This is despite catches falling off in the very hot summer when, unlike the Carp Lake, the water became coloured, although not as badly as in the past. We’d increased the amount of barley straw in both lakes by 25% this year; we’ll be upping the Main Lake by a further 20% next year.
